Why Mentors Matter

Who is your mentor?

Honestly, It wasn’t until I began to seriously invest in myself that the big shifts began to happen.

I had spent years, and I do mean YEARS, trying to hodgepodge together the skills and knowledge, the love and compassion that I needed to share my purpose.

These one off sessions and quick trainings put me on my path, but I found myself in a maze of confusion. I felt like I was waisting precious time trying this and trying that, and what I wanted was to find the straight path through the maze.

I found that path when I began to invest in working with my mentors and coaches.

The first real mentor I worked with was Laura Hollick, who helped me align to my true purpose and passion. In her year long program, she guided me to my authentic truth and set me on my path to success. I’m ever grateful to her for teaching me boundaries, and the creative aspects of entrepreneurship that I never learned in my Entrepreneurship Business Degree I earned at University.

Then, I took a bigger step, and invested all of myself into Bill Baren’s Big Shift Coaching Program. Here I was surrounded by beautiful heart-centered entrepreneurs who want to do good in the world. It’s like a B-Corp training on steroids.

But OH MY it was so hard at first. The vulnerability I felt in asking for help and support. And I got my ass kicked with love and kindness as my support team held me accountable and asked me to step deeper into my hopes and dreams. These people cared about me, they cared where I was going and shared what was needed to get there.

What every good mentor/coach knows is that each of us need a good mentor/coach. We all have our own areas of nativity, and a good coach/mentor helps us see through our own hidden fears to awaken us to our “stuff”. We all have it. They help us show up when the going gets tough, and they hold us accountable to our hopes and big visions. They share their wisdom without the bullshit. They give comfort through the uncertainty and ambiguity of life’s daily dramas. Bottom line – they really do care.

When I began to invest in myself, with money, time, accountability, and action, I began to see my own style of awesome emerge even brighter. I saw the difference I could make in this crazy world we live in.

I am incredibly grateful for the wisdom and fierce love shared to me by my mentors, and I can’t imagine *not* making that committed investment in myself ever again.

All you have to do is look at this love puddle to see the care and support that flows unconditionally when being held in accountability and commitment. I am so incredibly grateful to each and every one of them.

So, let me ask again, who is your mentor?

Do you have one? Many? Share in the comments below.

If you don’t have one, maybe it’s time to begin your search… Seek out mentors who are ahead of you on your life path. Those who embody the qualities you want to emulate.

But most of all, make yourself available to learn. Show up, be committed to yourself and give yourself the full investment into your evolution.

Who you are today and who you’ll be in 5 years is determined not by the books you read, but by the mentors you choose. (And the ones who choose you.) I’m sure of it.

From an Interns Point of View

As soon as I got off the plane in Panama, my skin became hot and sticky as the humidity hit me like a wall. I have been attending an international university in Japan and am currently on a one-year exchange in Norway. Because of the long summer break from the end of May to the beginning of September, I thought it would be a great opportunity to spend my time doing an internship in an environment that I have never been in before.

The first few days were spent getting used to the humidity, heat, and bugs. Being in a jungle in the rural region of Sortóva, Panama, you can’t go a day without experiencing all three of them in some form. There are the occasional frogs, bats, and beetles that live with us in the house. I was eaten alive by mosquitoes as I have always been extremely prone to mosquito bites. Did I mention there was a scorpion as I was unsuspectingly taking a nice, hot shower?

But these are really a valuable part of the irreplaceable experience of living on the Art Farm. Every morning, I start my days with a fresh avocado on toast along with the only pineapples I’ve ever had that are sweet enough to bite into without them biting you back. Turmeric grows in abundance as they are turned into bioavailable turmeric paste that are amazing for your body, both inside and out. There are breadnuts that can be made into cookies in substitution for flour, making gluten-free an easy feat to achieve. Talk about farm-to-table and eating healthy!

As part of the internship, it is my responsibility to come up with ways to promote these foods that we harvest on the farm, implement analysis for social media to increase engagement, and formulate new ideas to let more people know about the produce she grows. On days that I am not working on my internship project, Lyn takes me to the river that flows on the farm, swimming at the beach, and sightseeing around the volcanic areas of Boquete and Volcán. When you’ve got so many unique opportunities waiting for you to be experienced, it’s obvious that it’s not very difficult to be an intern here.

Half of my time as an intern at the Art Farm has already passed, but there are still many tasks that I have yet to accomplish before leaving and more experiences to take back with me to Japan. As a constantly growing farm tended to with lots of love and care, it has so much to offer to anyone who is interested in contributing to its continuing evolution.

Seriously, good thoughts create more good thoughts, so why not spend some time thinking about what’s good in life, instead of worrying about what’s not yet going right.

Take a second right now. Stop scrolling and ask yourself “What’s good in my life right now?”

Feel that question wash over you like fresh water.

What’s the first thing that comes to mind?

APRIL 30 WORKSHOP: 3 Life Changing Habits To Quiet Your Inner Critic

posted in: Uncategorized 96

Have you ever had the feeling that your inner critic is just a BIG BULLY?

Do you know you have more to give, more to share, but your inner critic makes you feel like you don’t deserve it, or your not enough. Even worse, it goes on to unconsciously sabotage your big dreams and visions in an effort to “keep you safe”.

I know I use to. So after years (and I do mean years) of struggling. I began to develop a system to take the power away from our inner critic. And this is the first time I’m sharing it with the world!

3 Life Changing Habits To Quiet Your Inner Critic For Good

And the beauty is that this 1 hour workshop is at no cost to you. All I ask is that you come, go thought our process with me and simply take a few moments to let me now how I did. Your feedback helps me hone my vision as I want to empower as many as possible to reclaim their own personal confidence from that cranky old inner critic.

I want you to take the time and dream big NOW and decide what you want to create for your life and your career for the rest of 2018. It’s easy to forget about desires and dreams you have when you have an inner critic that creates self-sabatoge and brings up all kinds of limiting beliefs that hold you back and keep you playing small.

I will show you how to incorporate 3 life changing habits that you will look forward to using to transform your inner critic into your inner cheerleader.
* I’ll show you how to give yourself permission to take imperfect action to begin moving forward on manifesting your desires.
* I will create a “perfect space” for you to gain insight into what your hidden fears might be telling you, or how they might be trying to keep you safe.
* You will enjoy the engagement of group community, because being seen and acknowledged for showing up in support for yourself should be celebrated.

Incorporating these 3 habits into your life will enable you to:
* Answer the question: what are my hidden fears trying to tell me, how are they keeping me safe? Is that working?
* Identify your most pronounced fear – and transform it from staying hidden and self sabotaging you, to being one of your greatest teachers.
* Transform any confusion and overwhelm into clarity, inspiration and action.
* Live “on purpose” and tap into greater abundance, income and relationship.

After this workshop you will feel:
* Connected to your dreams and visions through your authentic voice and NOT your inner critic.
* In sync, a sense of harmony, ease of achievement, and the joy in the abundance around you.
* Confident, unstoppable, fulfilled, energized and in love with yourself again.
* Motivated to serve, help others, and to make a positive difference in the world.
