5 Ways to Cultivate Trust to Strengthen Intuition and Inner Wisdom

posted in: Uncategorized 1

This morning I pulled an Angle Card as part of my daily practice. Have you seen them? It’s an adorable box containing 52 playfully illustrated keywords that help you focus on particular aspects of your inner life. I like to use them as a way to focus on a particular energy to meditate on throughout the day.

I shook the box and mixed the small cards around a few times. I reached in and pulled TRUST out of the box. It immediately resonated with me as recently I’ve been stepping into more vulnerability in my life and business and TRUST felt like a gentle reminder acknowledging that I am following my path.

Dictionary.com defines trust as: reliance on the integrity, strength, ability, surety, etc., of a person or thing; confidence.

The definition got me thinking more broadly, it got me thinking about what it is that I teach in my coaching. At the heart of Love Yourself Now is trust. Trusting self to have the integrity, the strength, the ability to move through life confidently, trusting in the unique inner wisdom.

So for today’s mindful moment, I thought I would share some key ways that I teach cultivating trust in your inner wisdom. The result of cultivating these aspects within yourself is that you open to greater intuition and inner knowing.

5 Ways to Cultivate Trust to Strengthen Intuition and Inner Wisdom

1. Know who you are.
This is the foundational work I teach in my unique Love Yourself Now 12 Week Journey. Your unique personality, your authentic essence, is the foundation of your power. Get to know it well. Understand who you are and how you move best in this world. This is a process of getting comfortable in your own skin. When you know yourself, you can move through life with increased grace and confidence. Insecurity and self-doubt have no room to grow in this environment.

2. Honor your daily practice.
Another fundamental aspect of the Love Yourself Now 12 Week Journey is crafting your own, unique to you, daily practice. A daily practice allows you time to calm the chaos and rejuvenate your mind, body, spirit on a daily basis. The key is to make the daily practice something you look forward to, not something you dread. This is your sacred time just for you, so carve out 10 to 60 minutes everyday to refresh and renew yourself in anyway that brings you joy.

3. Surround yourself with the right people.
Hanging out with people who sap your energy or pull you down depletes you and has you second guessing your inner wisdom. Learn to be non-negotiable and protective about the company you keep. When you build your community with others who are strong inside, you get the added support and reflection of their energy to compliment your own. Keep company with others who celebrate you and mirror your positive outlook.

4. Love your body temple.
It can be hard to trust your inner wisdom when you know your are making unhealthy decisions for yourself along the way. Make a strong effort to honor your body temple. Eat well, move your body, and dress yourself in ways that make you feel good about yourself. When you feel good about yourself both on the inside and the outside, your whole self is in congruence and as a result you deepen your trust for self.

5. Connect with your passion and purpose.
You were born with unique gifts and talents and when you engage in them you tap into your deep inner wisdom and your full potential. When you activate your passion and your purpose, you create more flow, more success in life, and cultivate greater feelings of confidence and life significance. Linking your passion to your purpose provides a great sense of fulfillment and trust that you are on the right path in life.

My greatest successes, personally, have come when I let go of judgment and have trusted my intuition and inner wisdom. The rough times, those times I suffered from depression and anxiety have been the times when I allowed self-doubt and self-sabotage to lead me. Trusting myself and having faith in my inner wisdom have been the greatest assets that I’ve been able to cultivate. Try the 5 ways above to cultivate your own!
